Making Lemonade
March 2020 is evolving into a memorable time. I am healthy, but many others are not. As the coronavirus spreads across the planet, we have been asked to practice social distancing. I had never heard of such a phrase.
It slowly dawned on me that my usual activities would be severely curtailed. Several visits to the pool every week, outings to the Museum, lunches with friends, my work in the schools… I have always had a lot going on. Now my circle of operation was shrinking.
As a lifelong rebel, I initially resented these limits on my freedom of action. Then I realized…
I have been awarded a creative residency in my own home. At no cost. Well, at least at no additional cost. For three weeks, I can spend all my time working on creative projects. I will not be expected to be anywhere in particular at any specific time, wearing anything mandated. An uninterrupted play date, every day!
So this is my new plan. I am not sure what the theme is, but I will create some body of work over the next three weeks. It will include painting, but many other mediums may turn up. It will also include writing, something I love but have neglected for many years.
So stay tuned. I have a lot to say, in words and pictures.
